Microsoft Store/Cafe Ad Campaign Concept

October 23rd, 2009 | Category: Apple,cypher-sec.org,giveaway,microsoft

NPR had a “BLOCK” stating “…PC World had been talking about what will be going on at these new stores, and the writer said: Store hours are undetermined. At any given time, the store mysteriously shuts down instantaneously for no apparent reason. No word yet on what happens to customers inside. This is the image problem, I guess, with Microsoft.

I think Microsoft could actually benefit from this type of funny press. (after all, press is press, right?) :)

Anyway, what if Microsoft actually had BSOD giveaways. Clearly a funny take on the old Blue Screen of Death.  Imagine: Store lights go BLUE, doors close (BSOD of some sort is displayed on the front doors to all passers by)… those inside get a cool prize.

Since you never know when a BSOD-giveaway will happen you have to frequent the store and hope you’re one of the lucky people who experience a BSOD in a Microsoft store. ;)

At least you can see in blue light, Mac’s BSOD is a BLACK screen of death… kinda hard to see in no light. ;)

Microsoft, feel free to run with it! Open source idea! :)

Share your coolest concept with the world!  :) #MsoftCampaign @thecolor

AT&T Sucks, giving free Wi-fi to iPhone customers only!

October 30th, 2008 | Category: Apple,AT&T,ATT,Cingular,EDGE,GPRS,HSDPA,technology,Wi-fi,wireless
AT&T has decided to give away their massive wireless network to iPhone users. Yes, I said, JUST iPhone users. Personally, I just think this sucks! Granted it’s only an opinion.

For years there have been customers using wifi capable handhelds, and paying carriers through the nose to use their data service just so they’re mobile (not laptops) were more than just a calling device. But whenever they are at an airport or location that does not provide the faster more efficient connection for free, they’re forced to use the slower and more frequently annoying 3G, EDGE or GPRS connections OR pay for the wifi they find.

I’ve dumped nearly $100 a month in their pocket for 5 years just for the use of 3G, and since the release of the iPhone (and 3G capable device) the cellular data connection has only gotten worse. With that, I have owned multiple devices that have wi-fi capability, simply due to the poor and getting poorer data connections they provide.

NOW, I find out through iPhone users that they have received a message (click image above) indicating they can get (as an iPhone user) free wifi on any of the massive number of AT&T wifi hotspots. Personally, this just makes me steam!

AT&T, if you can’t bring enough to the party for everyone, don’t bring any at all.

Sorry iphone users, I love everything Apple, but the stupid @$$ deal they’ve made with this carrier!

Just call it what it is, give it another Apple name, “Free iFi”!

AT&T Sucks, giving Free wifi to iPhone users ONLY!

September 11th, 2008 | Category: John C Dvorak,tech5

Encabroname Podcast Episode 2 [ Alpha Phase ]

Like I said in my last post, “These guys are hilarious!” Dave Mora and Jay Arza’s second show, and it’s still as funny as H.E. double hockey stick! :) This week, the guys are talkin’ about everything from how horrible Lazer Tag is, to lame eaters in the theater (eatin’ during a movie). Phone rings again, this time does not buzz (but it’s not ’cause the phone is on silent). ;) Guys, the buzz is do to the signal (which happens in silent or otherwise) :) Anyway, like before, I don’t want to ruin it, you just have to listen! I’m lovin’ it. This first show is only 24 minutes and 09 seconds.

Video is still just a power point of statements made, actual footage may be in the “beta” stage. ;)

You can also follow them on twitter, I’d assume for show updates and other fun stuff using:

@encabrona_me
@davemora
@jayarza

Or email them directly at encabroname@gmail.com

August 13th, 2008 | Category: John C Dvorak,tech5
Apple has huge fire in Cupertino. Social networking sites going global. I’m not a big user and need to comment on the topic someday. Perhaps the Russians are not responsible to Georgian cyber-attacks. 26 patches from Microsoft this last Tuesday. Too many. People now reporting on daily sales of the iPhone as if anyone cares. Microsoft Surface surfaces. Salon magazine says McCain is a computer dunce. Nortel getting into SIP and buys developer of protocol. Liberty Media wants the AOL dial-up business. Why? tech5
